What is Equal Pay Day?
and why should we care?
Equal Pay Day is a symbolic day dedicated to raising awareness about the harmful wage gaps faced by womxn of color as compared to their white non-Hispanic male counterparts.
The equal pay day date symbolizes how far into the year womxn must work in order to earn what men earned in the previous year.
Gender equality and the empowerment of womxn and girls continue to be held back owing to the persistence of historical and structural unequal power relations between womxn and men, poverty and inequalities and disadvantages in access to resources and opportunities that limit womxn’s and girls’ capabilities.


And the wage gap is even greater for womxn of color.
