YOU CAN HELP OUT
because everything counts
The Womxns Center’s mission of advancing gender equity and raising consciousness on social justice concepts supports taking action on the issues we care about. Missions to close the gender pay gap include addressing the over-saturation of women in the
informal sector, bringing these low-paying jobs under the umbrella of legal and effective protection and empowering them to better defend their interests. Ensuring workers’ right to organize and bargain collectively is an important part of the solution.
Below are effective actions anyone can take:
What is Paycheck Fairness Act?
The act that would modernize and strengthen the Equal Pay Act of 1963 to better combat pay discrimination and close the wage gap, including by protecting workers from retaliation for discussing pay, banning the use of prior salary history, and codifying pay data collection.
Why?
Open salary sharing means there is a pay transparency that helps identify and correct pay disparities based on gender that may have naturally been unaddressed. Help pass the Salary Transparency Act today!
Why?
Women must be involved in employer and union leadership to increase their rights to organize and bargain collectively. Negotiating and standing up for one’s rights creates the space for change to occur.
Why?
Reposting and telling others about the gender pay gap spreads awareness, educates the public, and fosters opportunities for discussion and further change to take place!
