Are you ready to invest in yourself? If you are interested in taking the leap to learn more about Womxn’s Leadership this is the class for you.
The Womxn’s Leadership Seminar is a 1.3 unit class tentatively offered in Winter 2024 by the Womxn’s Center for Success. This course offers students an opportunity to learn leadership skills, expand knowledge around socialization, and develop practice around building sustainable relationships in community. Students will be able to explore a deeper analysis of our own (counter) narratives, gender equity, and the intersections of identity with leadership. The purpose of this course is to expand understanding of the experiences of womxn in leadership and enhance a student’s UCI experience by providing tools to encourage future on and off campus leadership involvement.
The Womxn’s Leadership Seminar will be tentatively offered in Winter Quarter 2024 on Tuesday 4:00 pm – 5:20 pm.
Become a Small Group Facilitator
The Womxn’s Leadership Seminar class is designed for both large class group activities and small group activities. In order to provide students with an intimate brave space to explore concepts of leadership, socialization, and identity the class instructor recruits and trains up to five Small Group Facilitators. Small Group Facilitators are staff from across campus that volunteer their time to enhance the experience of womxn student leaders on campus.
Small Group Facilitator Role:
- Guide students in reflection and dialogue on various topics covered in class lecture and activities
- Facilitate pre-selected activities around specific capacities of Emotional Intelligent Leadership
- Build rapport and relationships with small group students in order to encourage a brave space for dialogue
Small Group Facilitators Commitments:
- Attend five of the ten classes during Winter Quarter – Classes are pre-set prior to the quarter
- Attend Small Group Facilitator Training – 2.5 hours prior to first day of class
- Be open to student follow up outside of class to discuss content from small groups further
- Attend class related events, when available, to further inform and guide small group discussion
