Our Story

“That is womxn’s empowerment, knowing from whence these places came.” – Adrian Williams

Our Story is a documentary film about the evolution of the Womxn’s Center at UC Irvine, whose history spans nearly 50 years. The film uncovers how gender inequality both on and off the college campus calls for the need for Womxn’s Centers to exist. With the help of material from the UCI Special Archives and past/current Womxn’s Center staff, the film explores the beginnings, transitions, hardships, and joy the center had experienced during its time at UCI.

The film is written, directed, filmed, and edited by UCI ‘22 Alum and former Womxn’s Center for Success multimedia intern, Adrienne Santiago. Contact her at adriennesantiago15@gmail.com.
