Archive

There are some programs, events, and services that the Womxn’s Center for Success has completed in the past, but has now retired to meet the needs of our current community.

You can check out these archived programs below.

May Day Zine

May Day recognized on May 1st, also known as International Workers Day, memorializes May 1st 1866 where workers across America went on strike to contest unfair working conditions. In 2021 the Womxn’s Hub produced a digital zine highlighting womxn in the labor movement, current rights as a student worker, and unions affiliated with UC Irvine workers.

Things to Consider Podcast

The Things to Consider Podcast was created in 2019. It had three seasons and was produced by the then Womxn’s Hub professional staff. Topics focused on issues that the UCI community should consider. These included: Life Behind the Hijab, Anti-Blackness During Covid-19, and Holistic Healing with UCI CARE.

Digital Care Packages

During the unprecedented year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Womxn’s Hub created a way to show care for our community during finals week. This created the Digital Care Package project. Every quarter our community signed up to receive digital care packages which included study playlists, health and wellness tips, recipes, and more!

Lounge Talks

Starting in 2022, Lounge talks happened every week with Counselors from the Counseling Center. Conversations were on topics such as relationships, stress & burnout, and communication issues. Students also learned coping strategies and ways to heal. The programs aimed to integrate practices that empower personal growth, as evidenced by increased confidence and healthy self-esteem.

Sad Grad

Sad and Successful Graduation Celebration was an annual event that celebrated the accomplishments of our graduating community members. Sad Grad aimed to curate an environment that felt welcoming and validating of every emotion that came with hitting a momentous milestone in life.
In 2023, Sad and Successful took place off campus at Twenty Eight Restaurant and Bar to provide a beautiful space to host our ceremony. In community, we celebrated the beginning of a new chapter while reflecting on the various emotions and memories that have led them to this point. Graduates were awarded lavender chords, Womxn’s Center stoles, and friendship bracelets to commemorate and honor their time spent with our center and at UCI.

Sad Girls Club Facebook Page

The Sad Girls Club at UCI Facebook group was created in Fall 2020 in reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic with the intention to normalize ALL the emotions we feel as humans (the good, bad, sad, and happy). It is a safe virtual space to connect and process all feelings for those who want to share about their experiences without societal judgment. With over 200 members, this community is full of support, empowerment, and emotional and social wellness. It provides a peer to peer space to normalize all feelings in a world where womxn are often shamed for emotions.

The Art of Negotiation Workshop

The gender pay gap grows larger over time during a womxn’s career. This workshop will prepare participants with the knowledge needed to build confidence to negotiate for better benefits and pay no matter what point they are at in their journey.

The Breaking Barriers Workshop

Interested in learning more about womxn’s leadership and the different barriers womxn face? In this workshop, we will discuss the challenges that womxn in leadership face and how we can work to combat these difficulties.

The Radical Self-Care Workshop

In this workshop, Womxn’s Center staff will hold space to talk about our perceptions of self-care, suggestions and benefits for practicing taking care of ourselves, collect resources that can assist us and end with a guided meditation.
