Quit Bitchin’

Maddie, Tig, and Jules are in a laundromat in rural America, exploding with pent-up rage from young motherhood, workplace misogyny, and uncertainties about marriage. With help from three powerful women who run the local liquor store, Maddie, Tig, and Jules find new freedom to face life with a ferocious courage strong enough to change their lives. Quit Bitchin’ is not just a play—it’s a modern reimagining, a fusion of ancient Greek myths and contemporary experiences, so prepare for a journey where every twist is a revelation.

Description: Join pianist Lorna Griffitt on a journey through musical treasures by Bach, Chopin, and the scintillating and mesmerizing Le tombeau de Couperin by Maurice Ravel. Also on the program will be the world-premiere of a work by Yungwha Son, a Korean-American woman composer who received her Ph.D. in music composition from UC San Diego.

Description: Grad and Family Housing, the LGBT Resource Center, and UCI’s Counseling Center collaborate to create a welcoming space for our LGBT community. Sound Bath and Meditation Circle

Host: UCI School of Physical Sciences Office of Access, Outreach and Inclusion

Description: Students, staff and faculty are invited to sit, take a breath, and relax into a deep meditation as they enjoy a beautiful sound bath where healing frequencies will calm the nervous system and relax the mind.

This workshop is part of Whispers of Wisdom: A Community Healing Series hosted by the School of Physical Sciences’ Office of Access, Outreach and Inclusion and supported by the office of Inclusive Excellence.

International Coffee Hour: International Womxn’s Day

Host: International Center, Center for Excellence in Writing & Communication, Counseling Center, and ASUCI International Student Advocacy Commission

Description: International Coffee Hour is a weekly program that offers free coffee, tea, hot chocolate, snacks, and activities. The themes and activities for each week varies and for March 7th, 2025, International Coffee Hour will be celebrating International Womxn’s Day by providing an opportunity to make flower bouquets.

Description: Led by the Division of Undergraduate Education and joined by almost 400 Social Ecology students taking Positive Psychology and about a dozen campus units, Happiness Week offers a diverse range of events to help you thrive academically and personally. Explore the power of gratitude with acts of kindness, unleash your creativity with Powerpoint Karaoke, find your inner peace through meditation sessions, and widen your world view with awe-inspiring experiences. If that’s not enough, you’ll also be able to grab an array of happiness-filled free snacks and diverse activities across campus, and even throw a pie at Dean Michael Dennin in honor of this year’s Pi Day (3/14).

Finding Light: Alzheimer’s Stories ft. Dr. Irene Messoloras

Description: Experience the profound journey of Alzheimer’s through music in a powerful event featuring soloists, choir, percussion, and piano, brought to life by 200 voices. This contemporary and melodic work is divided into three movements in an effort to capture three different perspectives and follow the arc of the disease, from consciousness to unconsciousness. The first movement delves deep into Alzheimer’s disease, beginning with the origins of its discovery, the story of how it came about, and its statistical impact on society. The second part features poignant texts written by Alzheimer’s patients, sharing their memories and personal stories, creating a beautiful and impactful narrative. The final section shifts to the emotional journey of caregivers, highlighting the challenges they face and the power of music to bring patients

Description: Sacred Resistance

Sacred Resistance is an exploration of the sacred act of safeguarding our essence, our being, and our collective history as Black women. Originally commissioned by the LACE Performance Series “Abundance,” this work serves as a profound meditation on the themes of defense, healing, and empowerment through the ancestral and contemporary experiences of Black femme warriors.

The Open: A collective performance by UCI students from winter 2025

Using “radical juxtaposition” as a guiding principle, The Open is a collaborative performance developed as an experimental artwork within the New Genres area of the Art Department. Produced under the direction of Professor Simon Leung, this project explores how the social & political dissonance of our age intersects both private life and the public sphere.

The performances are followed by a Q & A with the audience.
